2011 – A Year in Review

2011 was a huge year for me. It was the year of “the beginning” for me actually. I have started on a path, a path that I did not know existed, that I did not know was possible, that I did not know I needed so very much. Now that I am on this path – this path of personal fulfillment I am excited about my life and what the future holds. I feel a sense of empowerment and a sense of self I didn’t know I was missing.

Being a mother is great. Being a mother completed me as a nurturer and a caregiver.
Being a wife is great. Being a wife completed me as a partner.
Being a writer completed me as a person.

If you can call blogging “writing” that is.

In 2011 I started blogging again after a long hiatus, which quickly lead to several contributing opportunities. And then to starting up my own personal blog again.
Because of blogging – specifically blogging for DayTrippingMom and CBS Los Angeles, I went on several trips, had thousands of really amazing one-of-a-kind opportunities and met some really amazing people.

In 2011, I started up my own photography business as well. And although, it did not take off quite as quickly as blogging did, it still went very well. I photographed a wedding, a birthday party, all my friends kids and several portrait sessions.

In 2011, my son started preschool-which was a huge step for us. Letting him go and be taught by someone else was one of the hardest things I’ve had to do.

In 2011, I got pregnant with my 3rd (and final!) baby. I’m due in May 2012.

In 2011, I cut ties with people who were no good, friendships that were bad and relationships that were toxic. It taught me that there’s no one better to rely on than yourself and that hanging on to dead weight only slows you down. (obviously in 2012 there will be a post about this subject).

In 2011, I started contributing to the family finances. Which relieved tension and made things easier. It also gave me a sense of accomplishment.

In 2011, I decided that I was no longer going to put up with bullshit.

In 2011, my marriage became stronger.

I am hopeful, I am excited and I am eagerly awaiting for what 2012 has to offer. I am looking forward to new experiences, new opportunities and meeting new people. I am looking forward to getting to know you.
